Joyce Scott, MA, is an RN and developmental specialist she has worked for many years with children with Down Syndrome and other special needs. She is the twin sister of famous fibre artist Judith Scott (see www.judithandjoyce.com). A long-time resident of Berkeley, California, Joyce has dedicated her life to helping mothers and children. She is also a poet, writer and clinical hypnotherapist.
Her husband, John Cooke, is a zoologist, writer and photographer. He taught at Oxford for more than ten years, before becoming a director of Oxford Scientific Films, making wildlife documentaries for television. . A world authority on spiders since his teenage years, he was at one time curator of arachnids at the American Museum of Natural History in New York.
With his wife, Joyce Scott, John is a founding Director of The Bali Children’s Project, a non-profit charity that provides education (and other services) to disadvantaged village children. He has written on Balinese bird life, archaeology and early history.
